Your images are never collected

All watermark removal happens inside your own browser, on your own device. Your image is decoded, processed, and re-encoded locally. No copy of it, no part of it, and no derivative of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else.

This is not a promise about how carefully we handle uploads. There is no upload step at all, and no storage on our side that could hold an image. You can verify it: load the page, disconnect from the internet, and process an image. It still works.

To be precise about what does travel over the network: the page itself, like any website, loads code and styles from our host, and once it has finished loading it loads Google Analytics (described below). Those requests exist and you will see them in your browser tools. What you will not see is a request carrying your image data.

File names and other details

File names are read in your browser to label results and construct the names of the files you download. They are not transmitted or recorded.

The tool does not read image metadata for any purpose, and does not inspect the contents of your images beyond locating the watermark pattern.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how many people use the site and which pages they visit. It records the pages you open, the site that referred you, your device and browser type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses.

It receives nothing about what you process. The tool sends no events of its own to Google Analytics: no image data, no file names, no results.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics runs with analytics cookies switched off: it does not set a cookie on your device there, and Google receives only cookieless signals that cannot recognise you on a later visit.

Google processes this data under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). You can block Google Analytics with any content blocker or with Google's opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). The tool works exactly the same either way.

Advertising

The site serves no advertising. If that changes, this page will be updated to name the provider and describe what it collects before any advertising script goes live. Where consent is required by law, you will be asked for it first.

Cookies and local storage

Outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) that hold a random identifier, so that repeat visits are not counted as new visitors. They expire after up to two years. The site sets no other cookies.

Nothing you process is retained after you close or reload the page.

Server logs

The site is served as static files by a hosting provider. Like any web host, it processes standard connection information such as IP addresses in order to deliver the page and to protect against abuse. We do not add to this, do not combine it with anything else, and do not use it to build a profile of you.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. No accounts exist, and beyond the analytics described above nothing is recorded about any user, of any age.

Your rights

Data protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, and delete personal data held about you. There are no accounts, no stored images, and no user records. Analytics data is held by Google against a random identifier, not your name or email, so we cannot look up a person in it. For any request or question, write to hello@watermarkeraser.net.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Material changes — in particular introducing advertising — will be reflected here before they take effect.
